Traditional strip footing or block and beam floors for South East homes

Here at Chigwell Windows Centre, we manufacture our conservatory bases using a traditional strip footing perimeter with a concrete oversite or we use bison block and beam flooring. Using strip footing helps to spread the weight of the conservatory walls, ensuring the structure is very well supported. Concrete is incredibly strong and durable, whilst offering great thermal insulation and sound insulation. Therefore, leaving you with a well-supported, highly insulated, and quiet conservatory.

Bison block and beam floors use wide-spanning pre-stressed beams with dense aggregate block infills. Using pre-stressed beams reduces foundations costs whilst providing excellent load-span capability, so the structure is excellently supported and more cost-effective. Like concrete, dense block infills have excellent thermal insulation properties but they are also great for sound reduction. So, you’re also left with a solid and comfortable conservatory. A screed finish is then applied on top, leaving a flat surface that is ready for your choice of flooring to be fitted to.
